What a Refreshing Weekend!

I love how good I feel after a long weekend. I was so refreshed this morning that I woke up about 20 min before my alarm clock. The hubby and I stayed in bed and played with Jessie until the alarm went off. She is being a kitty with an attitude. All she wants to do is wrestle and bite us when she plays. She even sneaks up on us around the corner and pounces when we walk by. Maybe that will all change when she gets spayed next week. (Shhh, I haven’t told Jessie about that yet.)

I got some good knitting (and relaxing) time in this weekend. I did not make it to Cocoa Village or the beach, but maybe next weekend I will. The beaches were too dangerous anyways. The hubby was working all day on Monday while I ran errands for him. Imagine me with my list wandering Home Depot. Luckily I found everything he needed with no problems. We also made it over to Bill and Jennifer’s new condo (My Boss’s Parents) for a little lounging by the pool and dinner. It was just a couple of people that I work with so it was a lot of fun. I brought over some cheesecake for dessert. I’ve never made cheesecake before and it turned out great! I used this recipe from Kraft Food & Family Magazine. It was so easy!

**I am still working on getting the lighting right for photo's. They will look better soon!**

As I mentioned, I got some knitting done. I have been working exclusively on the Freesia Sock because I just haven’t felt like working on anything else. I will probably switch my main project after the first sock is done. I am almost to the heel now. The colors are swirling nicely around my foot now. I think I will try the Gusset and Slip Stitch heel from Knitty's
Widdershins pattern that Wendy used. It looks very nice.

Well I guess I should get back to work now. I sure am glad I brought the leftovers into the office! Yum!

I hope everyone is feeling as refreshed as I am!

Woo Hoo 3 Day Weekend!

Wow, I have a whole 3 days to do whatever. What do I do? Probably nothing. The hubby gets to golf on Sunday, and work on the car all weekend. Me? I thought about heading to the beach to lay out and do some knitting. It may be kind of packed this weekend but there are some less crowded areas around. Maybe a walk around Cocoa Village or Cocoa Beach. We’ll see. (it doesn’t hurt that Knit & Stitch is in Cocoa Village either) I wish my mom was close by. I know she’d love
Cocoa Village.

I made good progress on my Freesia Sock last night. I really like how the colors are pooling. They are spiraling around the sock. I am past the ball of my foot and it is fitting nicely. I may have to keep these for me.

The one on the Left is the front and on the right is the back.

I love how it is looking!!

I am also going to try and finish Sheldon this weekend. All he needs is legs and those won’t take any time at all. I think he looks kind of sad without legs to run and play.

I got my fist comment yesterday from my Aunt Martha. I am so happy she loved the fabric but I really was surprised that she had put the quilting away temporarily. I could not imagine have nothing to do with my hands!

I also got some good pictures of Lenny last night. I have to figure out how to get good pictures of him without the red eyes. He loves his treats!! Every time I feed him he looks for the treats.

I hope everyone has a good Memorial Day Weekend!!

Is it the weekend yet?

Now that my Aunt Martha has her package (I hope!) I can post the picture. While I was in Beverly Hills I saw some great fabric. She told me that she was making an American Flag quilt so I picked up a yard of this fabric for her. I thought it was so cute. I wish I had a sewing machine!! It would be nice to pick out pretty fabrics here and there to make a quilt. My mom told me that she finished sewing some PJ pants last weekend. I bet they are cute!

I got a little knitting done last night before we left. I will have more pictures when there is more to show.

We went to a friend’s house to look at his surround sound system last night. The hubby is going to do some work there to hide all of his components. He had the cutest dog, a Shar-pei. She was so excited when we walked in that she ran full speed to come in the house but hit the sliding glass door. Poor Dog, she hit it so hard!! I’m glad she was OK.

Speaking of cute pets...Here's another adorable picture of Jessie napping. I think I am neglecting Lenny. I have only posted one picture of him. I will have to get some good ones of him soon.

It's a random Thursday with not much going on but I will have more knitting pictures up tomorrow. As for this weekend, not much of anything. Just finishing up a couple of projects around the house, and replanting my Plumeria. It has gotten so big that it started leaning. It really needs a bigger pot.

Have a great day, its almost a 3-day weekend!

Hats and Kisses

I worked on the Freesia Sock last night and it is looking great. Again this morning it doesn’t look like I made very much progress but I did.

I finally took pictures of the baby hat and booties I made. They were a little small for the baby I was thinking of but I think they will be OK for Sheri’s Challenge.

I will send these crocheted hats too. I made them for me when I first started crocheting again but I never wear beanies. Come on, I live in Florida. I think its great that Sheri is getting everyone to pitch in and donate. There are kids out there that need these more that I do.

My mom sent me this great email yesterday. I hope this never happens to me!

So, it's your first kiss and several questions might come to mind:

Is it the right time?

Is anyone watching?

Does your partner even want to?

Is your breath fresh?

And... Should you use some tongue?

Then you lean in and just go for it!!!

That is so cute!! and kinda gross but it’s OK, she little. I wish I knew where the picture came from.

That picture will follow that little girl around forever!!

Random Tuesday

I thought I made some progress on the Freesia Sock last night but it looks the same this morning. I knit all the way to Melbourne yesterday but it doesn’t show. I did try the sock on and it seems to fit ok but it might get a little tight on the ball of my foot. I am at that point now so I won’t know how it fits for another day or two.

Like I said, I knit all the way to Melbourne to look at the new VW Jetta GLI turbo. We test drove one and loved it. I get my cute car with more room (for the kiddies in the future) and the hubby gets his turbo. It was fun to drive although it was an automatic. I wanted a manual but at least this one is tiptronic. That means that you can switch to manual and shift but there is no clutch. Kinda cool. I was really happy with it but we probably won’t get the GLI because it is more expensive than the regular Jetta and the only difference is a couple upgrades. We would definitely be happy with the 2003 Jetta 1.8T (also turbo) so we went into the office to talk numbers. Ugh. They looked at my 2001 Mustang as a trade in and when he came back Thomas almost fell out of his chair. They were going to give us $4,500 for a trade in. $4,500! I laughed at him. I thought he was joking. He must have been joking. Our car blue books at over $9000. So he went to redo the numbers and came back with an offer of $5000. He was wasting our time so we left. We did find out that we can definitely afford the 2003 Jetta 1.8T with no trade in. We just have to sell our Mustang and get what we want for it first.

And because it is a random Tuesday, we have a random picture. These are some pictures of New Orleans from our trip from California back in July 2005. These were right before hurricane Katrina.

This old church was really neat, then that night there was a full moon and it looked really creepy. I think I was a little freaked out after walking around in the French Quarter and seeing all the Voodoo shops. We took a tour of the graveyard too.

It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood...

Back to work I go

Monday morning again. I am a morning person but I have to admit that I hate Monday’s. I just feel icky until I get my stuff together at work. Maybe it’s because I’m always running out the door Friday afternoon. Oh well, I will live.

My weekend was great! I got some good knitting time in but not many photos. My and the hubby drove over to his grandparents house on Friday then picked up Aunt Candy on Saturday. I love sitting around the table with Bea, Nancy and Candy just talking. Well more laughing than talking. We have fun with just us girls. Thomas and his grandpa got to golf Sunday Morning and got way to close to a gator for me, even if it was a little one. He said that they were feeding fish but then the gator was eating the fish…

We brought our bunny Lenny with us and everyone just loves him. He got way to many treats. Every time someone walks by him (including me) they give him a treat. There were plenty of friends for Lenny. (Two Poodles and a Chihuahua) I put him down with the dogs and to my surprise they got along great. Lenny and Jessie still are not friends yet. He stamps his feet when she gets too close, but they at least smell each other now.

As promised I got some knitting done. I finally made progress on the Jaywalker Sock. After the trouble I had trying to knit it top down I changed my mind again and cast on a toe. I knew that I know how to do a short row toe so now they are to up Jaywalkers. I think they look great but they may be a little small for me. I know that my gauge is a little too tight but I don’t have DPN’s in US size 2 (2.75mm) so I just knit it with what I had. I haven’t decided if I will frog it and get some US size 2 DPN’s or give the socks
away.
They are average sized but I have big honking feet. (size 9-10)

I also got a little shopping done, but not for me. I will have some pictures after she gets her package.

Have an awesome Monday!!

It Wasn't Meant to Be

I really do love this yarn so I think this may be a problem on my end. Follow me here; I cast on for the Freesia Socks on Wednesday night. I knit the ribbing. Last night, on my first round, I came up with an extra stitch in the final rows of the ribbing. Ok, Not a big deal, lets see which needle is missing a stitch. After I counted I had six extra stitches, six! How I knit the ribbing and did not notice 6 extra stitches is beyond me. Needless to say I frogged it and started over. After I cast on, again, I counted the stitches. I recounted the stitches. I had the hubby count them. I would’ve had the cat count them if she could. I had 84 this time so I joined them and started the ribbing. Half way through the first round I noticed I twisted the stitches. Did I read that annoying little part in the pattern that says, “Be careful not to twist?" Apparently not. Frogged again. And now the yarn goes away before I cut it into a million pieces.

So this is the state of the Freesia Socks:

I really wanted to cast on so I could knit in the car for the long drive tonight, so I will just have to work on something else. I decided that I do not like top down socks so I will cast on a toe tomorrow and begin. I did get to pack my cute little knitting bag for the car ride even though my clothes are not packed. Do I see my priorities mixed up here? Not at all.

My Mom got me this little bag when I was in California back in March. My mom, Aunt Martha and I went for a girls day out to a bunch of craft stores. I love it but this is the first time I’ve used it. It is perfect for a couple projects. I added Velcro to close the top. Let’s see if I can keep my yarn away from the Velcro. If you noticed I have my Clover Yarn Cutter Pendant hanging there that my Aunt Martha got for me that day too.

Also, today is my Mom's birthday!! Happy Birthday Momma!!! Sorry I didn't send you anything for your birthday but I kinda blew my budget on Mother's Day :-) But you know I love ya!

I will have actual knitting pictures up soon….I promise…I will be knitting that darn sock this weekend!

And just because my Jessie is so cute!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Summer Knitting

So you mean I am supposed to document all of my knitting goals for the summer and actually stick to them?? Ali over at Skeins Her Way started a contest for her Fitted Tank. All you have to do is go here and enter. Also, let Ali know that you came over from my blog so I can get in on the action! That Tank would look great in red!! So here goes, I hope I don’t embarrass myself and actually finish what I start.

My summer Knitting List:

  1. Cast on and finish Freesia Socks.
  2. Finish Scrappy Hat
  3. Finish Dream Swatch
  4. Finish Sheldon!! All he needs is legs.
  5. Finish Zeeby’s bag. It has taken way, way too long. I started it when I wanted to learn to knit since it is mostly boring stockinette stitch.
  6. Knit a pair of Jaywalkers
  7. Score some Yarn Pirate and Yarntini. I keep missing them!
  8. Buy “Last Minute Knitted Gifts” by Joelle Hoverson
  9. Find Yarn and cast on the Hourglass Sweater from “Last Minute Knitted Gifts”
  10. Buy “Knitting Vintage Socks” by Nancy Bush.
  11. Cast on Childs First Socks from “Knitting Vintage Socks”
  12. Buy “Favorite Socks” by Ann Bud and Anne Merrow
  13. Find Yarn and cast on Ballet Camisole

I think I have enough for now on my list. I cast on my Freesia Socks last night. I just love this yarn! I tried to do toe up but I didn’t like my toe so I frogged it. I decided to knit my Jaywalker's top down and just follow the pattern. I will have pictures soon when there is some progress.

And now, a random picture. This is me and the hubby on our honeymoon trip to Florida. A couple weeks after our wedding we packed all of our stuff into a 97’ Accord and drove East hoping for the best. It definitely was a great decision!

Wow is it really Thursday??

FO: Memories Socks

I finally finished my first pair of socks!! I love them, even though they are two different sizes. I knit the first one according to Wendy’s Feather and Fan Socks. From the ankle up it came out too big for me. I can still wear it but it is loose so I modified the second sock and it came out too small. Again I can still wear it but it is a bit tight trying to get it on. The foot on both fits great.

Yarn: Knit Picks Memories in Rocky Mountain Dusk

Needles: 3.5mm DPN’s

Pattern: Wendy’s Generic Toe Up Feather and Fan Socks

Pattern Designer: Wendy Johnson

Date Finished: 5/15/2007

I am working on my Scrappy Hat again, I put it off to finish the Memories Socks. I thought that I was just about done with it until I checked the pattern again and saw that I was only half way done. Oh well, it is an easy mindless project so I don’t care. I will have some good knitting time this weekend when the hubby and I head out to Beverly Hills (Beverly Hills, FL that is) to visit his grandparents. His Aunt is flying in from Texas so we will pick her up in Tampa on Saturday. Lots of driving knitting time this weekend.

I have been thinking about my next socks and I know I am going to use my Claudia’s Handpainted in Freesia but I still can’t decide whether I will try Jaywalkers or just knit it plain. We’ll see after I cast on tonight.

Every morning I try to get ready for work but Jessie always distracts me. I have to try very hard not to take to much time to play with her or else I would never get to work! But would you blame me?

Have a good night!!

Mother's Day Memories

Another Mother’s day has passed that I didn’t see my mother. She is in California and I moved to Florida about 2 years ago with my husband. I miss her a lot. Now that I am older, we have become very good friends. About 4 years ago I was the maid of honor in her Wedding and 2 years ago she was my maid of honor.

I appreciate our relationship very much because I see more and more people not realizing the importance of family. For Mothers Day I sent her some olive oil from Temecula Olive Oil Company. When I visited California back in March we went to Temecula and tasted the oils. Very good! I sent her the Citrus Olive Oil and the Vanilla Fig Balsamic Vinegar. I hope that she will see it and remember the time we spent together.

I also sent her a necklace that I found on Green Leaf and Owl’s Etsy Shop. My mom received it Saturday and said it was beautiful. She wore it the day she got it. It is painted Polymer clay. I wonder if there is another one in her shop because I may have to buy one for me. (I apologize; I had to beg Eva to let me use her picture because I forgot to take one before I sent it off.)

Well I hope everyone had a good weekend!

Happy Friday

I have about had it with the second Memories Sock. I really had to push myself to even start it. I think it’s because it really is not a very Springy colorway and right now I want something bright and cheerful. And, I do not want to have a bunch of SSS socks floating around. If I get started with that I will never stop...

I really have been eyeing my Claudia Handpainted in Freesia that I picked up from The Loopy Ewe for my next socks. It looks much more like Spring. I think I may try the Jaywalker socks. I've seen them on a few blogs and they look great!

It definitely is a Happy Friday. The DH finally got the part he's been waiting for since last weekend so he can fix his car. All week he has been driving me to work while we have two broken cars sitting at home. And his project for this weekend: Fix both cars so I can have my car back and he can sell the Accord. Then all would be right again in the world.

And to leave on a good note, My kitty Jessie:

Have a good weekend!!

First Impressions

For some reason or another I have avoided starting a blog. I always told myself that I didn't have time to keep it up but lately I have noticed that my list of blogs that I read daily has gotten quite long....so I really do have the time to post daily. And so to formally introduce myself:

Hi, My name is Michele and I am a 21 year old married woman who loves to knit, cook, read...I kinda sound like a personal ad huh? Well I am me, and I consider myself to be a decent person who loves life, especially mine. I have been married almost 2 years (no kids yet). Me and my husband packed our life into his 97' Accord and drove from CA to FL where we live now. It definitely was the best decision we ever made. I live in Merritt Island and love it. So if you are in my area drop me a message, I would love to say hi.

On another note, we got our first named storm here in Florida. She is sub-tropical storm Andrea. It was already downsized to a sub-tropical depression but at least we got some much needed rain that watered my Plumeria's.

And tomorrow: Pics of what I have been knitting. If you would like to see head over to my Flickr page. I am also on Ravelry, the most awesome new site for knitters!
