Which One?

So I finally got the Knit Picks Bag yesterday. They are completely identical. In my head I was still hoping that there was a reason that the Total Tote was so much more than the make up bag. Nope, no reason at all. After looking them over carefully, I really do like the make-up bag better. It’s probably because it is black and I always lean towards black. Com on, it goes with everything. I like that the Total Tote is suede but I can’t justify paying $20 more for suede. So the Total Tote is getting shipped back tomorrow. Now the question is, should I get store credit and go shopping or be a good girl and take the refund?

I hate being a complainer but I’ve got something on my mind. My job description is receptionist/assistant to the broker of my real estate company but I agreed to some time helping his wife out as part of my 40 a week of work. She has a mortgage business and a 6 month old and is a bit overwhelmed. So I go over to her house for about 3 hours 3 days a week. She told me that I would be helping her file, organize, make calls etc. Well the few times that I have been there I have cleaned most of the time. They have a 3000 sqft house and it is a pain to vacuum and mop and that has been at the top of my list every time I visit. I vacuum, mop, dust, clean bathrooms, iron, etc. I really hate cleaning too. I don’t mind pitching in but I don’t even vacuum my house 3 times a week! I don’t want to say anything because they are paying me for my time and they have done so much for us but I feel taken advantage of. I didn’t apply to be a housekeeper and think maybe they should hire one. Plus being there Monday, Wednesday and Friday and having an office meeting on Tuesday morning is really cutting into my work time. What do you think?

I haven’t had too much time for knitting these past couple of days but I got a few rows in on the Anastasia Sock. I really like how that pattern shows up with the yarn. Maybe I will actually finish the pair this time. I really want to get these done and get this yarn out of my stash!!

Tonight is Knit Night again at All Strung Out. I’m not sure if I am going yet. We’ll see! Hey Angie, when are we gonna get our knit night together, huh? Maybe when you feel better we'll talk about it again.

I'd totally return the Knit Picks bag. They are identical, and no amount of suede would make me want to keep the more expensive bag! Besides, suede will just get worn out and scuffed all that more quickly. Now, being the softie I am, and knowing that I'd find a way to use it, I'd take the store credit and order yarn. The way I see it is this: If I had the money to order the bag in the first place, then it's a total bonus to have it to go towards yarn instead. :)

As far as the work scenario goes, I think you're justified to complain. Maybe there's a nice way to bring up the subject... something like "Wow! I can only imagine how hard it must be to keep the house neat along with running a business and taking care of the baby. Wouldn't it be nice if you could find a full-time housekeeper? That way I could help you with all that filing and organizing that's getting out of hand instead."

Glad the Anastasia pattern is agreeing with your persnickety yarn. Hopefully this will be "the one".

I've had all the time in the world to knit the past few days, what with parking my rear in bed or on the couch all the time, but sadly, I just haven't had it in me to even lift the needles. Maybe that'll change soon.

We'll get that knit night going soon, I swear. It just seems like there aren't enough hours in the day... or week for that matter. Have fun at All Strung Out, though. Can I knit vicariously through you?

Uhhhhh, yeah, that's bullshit. It's one thing for your boss to ask you to do something slightly outside of your job description - expecting you to be his housekeeper is just insane. They're taking advantage of you because they can - you definitely don't have to go for it. I wouldn't even be subtle or hint around at them hiring someone else - I'd not be a total jerk, but I'd just speak with your boss and make it clear that while you're happy to help with her workload, you don't really have any desire to fill in for Merry Maids. I can tell you how I'd respond if cleaning toilets somehow found its way onto the list of things I'm expected to do for Uncle Sam!

(Both bags are cute, but I'd go for the black too - and the durability of suede scares me.)

I'd return the bag for store credit.

As for the job thing, I'm awful at these kinds of situations. I do feel they are taking advantage of you and you should say something to them about it or just tell them you are no longer able to come by. Good Luck.

I would return the bag for store credit also, knowing full well that I will use it in due time.

As for having to clean house for your boss's wife... I would definately bring it up because it is out of like. He probably doesn't realize that you are doing housework and not office work for her. Good luck
